Starting this spring, the streaming service will offer premium subscribers the ability to purchase physical books via its site, in collaboration with online retailer Bookshop.org, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The service will be available in the UK and the US. In conjunction with the launch, a feature will let users sync a physical book with its audiobook. Anyone who scans a page with the app will be taken to the same place in the audiobook.
"We want books to reach a wider audience," Owen Smith, Spotify's global audiobook manager, told the Wall Street Journal.
Spotify, best known as a music service, began offering audiobooks in the US in 2022. Last year, it rolled the concept out in Sweden.
