The gaming company Spooniker – which operates several major websites for gaming and betting – has been fined 10 million kronor by the Gaming Inspectorate, the authority writes in a press release.
Spooniker, which also receives a formal warning, has according to the Gaming Inspectorate deficiencies in customer knowledge. The company has not collected sufficient information about where the money being wagered on the company's sites comes from, according to the authority.
"Therefore, they have not been able to determine whether customers' activities have been legitimate or whether they have involved risk of money laundering or financing of terrorism. Spooniker Ltd is therefore issued a warning and a fine of 10 million kronor", the Gaming Inspectorate writes.
Spooniker operates, among other things, the websites Mariacasino.se and Unibet.se, according to the Gaming Inspectorate.
