Västervik's British speedway star Tai Woffinden was involved in a serious accident on Sunday and was taken to hospital by helicopter, writes Västerviks-Tidningen.
The accident occurred during a friendly match against Krosno.
The Polish website Sportowefakty writes that Woffinden, who rides for Stal Rzeszów in Poland, is said to have sustained fractures in both arms and legs. An official statement about Woffinden's condition is expected on Monday.
I don't know more than that it's bad. I can't say more, I have some important calls to make. We'll hear more another day, says Västervik's team manager Morgan Andersson to Västerviks-Tidningen.
The 34-year-old Tai Woffinden has won the World Championship title three times: 2013, 2015, and 2018.
