The Fiorentina player Edoardo Bove, who collapsed during a Serie A match against Inter, speaks out for the first time after the incident.
"I'm fine and that's the most important thing", he says on Instagram.
The 22-year-old suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on December 1 and was taken to hospital where he was placed in a medical coma. He was awakened the day after but remained in the intensive care unit for several days.
Bove has had a pacemaker implanted and was discharged from the hospital on Friday.
"It's in moments like these that I understand how genuine this sport really is. I have felt such warmth from the fans, support from teammates and opponents, and the closeness to the entire football world has given me incredible strength and courage", writes Bove.
