In a written statement, investigating judge María Tardón writes that there is moving image evidence supporting suspicions of a coordinated “attack against the Spanish state” by Moroccan security forces.

“Uniformed police officers (from Morocco) gave instructions to people who illegally crossed the border,” the judge writes, reports El País.

Tardón describes the “massive” influx of migrants as “hybrid warfare”, whose “aim was to affect the lives and rights of Spanish citizens” and “destabilize national security”.

More than 70,000 irregular migrants crossed the border from Morocco to Ceuta on July 30 and 31 this year.
