Álvaro Morata became a scapegoat when Spain lost the Nations League final to Portugal. Now his wife says that the family has been exposed to death threats on social media.

”Don't they realize it's just a football match”, writes Alice Campello on Instagram.

In a follow-up post with a photo of the entire family including their children, she continues:

”We all make mistakes in life. But we shouldn't judge others”.

The Nations League final on Sunday was decided on penalties. There, 32-year-old Morata missed the last penalty and Portugal became the champions.

The Milan striker, who was loaned to Galatasaray last season, has scored 37 goals in 86 international matches.
