Anyone who is of sound mind and has a “serious and incurable illness” or a “chronic and disabling” condition can request euthanasia in Spain.

The now 25-year-old daughter was scheduled to be euthanized in August 2024. However, the process was interrupted when her father filed an objection with the support of a conservative campaign group.

The father has claimed that his daughter suffered from mental disorders that could affect her decision-making, and that there have been signs she has changed her mind.

The woman was paralyzed after a suicide attempt in 2022. The Constitutional Court's decision is final.
