The plan is to provide food and other necessities through UN channels, the Spanish Foreign Ministry announced Monday after a meeting between Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares and his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodríguez in Madrid.
The announcement follows the arrival of two Mexican ships carrying over 800 tons of aid in Cuba last week.
The US's tightening of its blockade of the communist-ruled country and the stopping of oil deliveries from Venezuela have deepened the crisis.
