Denmark is still second in group A4 and thus has a playoff spot with one match left to play.
Spain started the European national team tournament with a draw against Serbia in September. Since then, they have won four straight matches.
In Parken in Copenhagen, they showed why they have been unbeatable since the friendly match against Colombia in March (0–1). Since then, Spain has won 13 matches (seven straight wins in the European Championship) and played two draws.
After mistakes in the Danish defense, Spain was able to make it 1–0 in the 15th minute. Mikel Oyarzabal put the ball in the goal after a pass from Ayoze Pérez.
Pérez then made it 2–0. In the 58th minute, he was served a smooth pass in deep from Dani Olmo, which put the Danish defense in trouble. Pérez was completely free and had no problem getting the ball past the Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
Real treat
Nothing seemed to be able to change the match picture.
But six minutes from the end, Spain invited Denmark into the match through a sloppy back pass from Fabián Ruiz. Goalkeeper David Raya didn't have time to get to the ball before Gustav Isaksen snatched it and placed it in the goal.
After that, Denmark pressed intensely and had several chances, but to no avail.
Portugal won its group
Switzerland played 1–1 against Serbia, which means that Denmark has a two-point lead over Serbia ahead of the decisive match on Monday when Denmark and Serbia meet in a direct match for second place in the group.
Portugal did as Spain and secured the group win. In A1, Poland was defeated 5–1, while group two Croatia unexpectedly lost to Scotland (1–0). Croatia needs to take a point against Portugal on Monday to secure second place. Poland and Scotland are three points behind.
