At the end of July, more than 70,000 migrants crossed the border from Morocco into Ceuta in chaotic scenes. The vast majority have returned, but exactly how many remain is unclear.
On Tuesday, players from La Liga clubs Real Madrid and Elche wore shirts during warm-ups with the message “Todos somos caballas” – which roughly translates to “We are all from Ceuta” – in support of Ceuta's Spanish residents.
Real Madrid stars Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior were criticized after they pulled their shirts up over their chests so that parts of the message were not visible.
