The 65-year-old has extended his contract through the European Championship in Italy and Turkey in 2032.
The Spaniard took over as coach of the men's national team in December 2022 and has had great success since then, with the team losing only two matches in almost four years.
De la Fuente has a solid career behind him as a player in La Liga, where he made a name for himself as a strong left-back during the 1980s.
As a coach, he has led several of Spain's youth national teams before taking charge of the senior national team.
