Esther González became a two-goal scorer and 18-year-old Vicky López, the Barcelona talent, showed brilliance and scored a goal.

Esther González, who normally plays in American Gotham, struck with an artistic goal after 90 seconds when she took down a high ball with her shoulder and scored the leading goal with her right side.

In the seventh minute, the match was largely over when Vicky López made it 2–0.

Portugal did not have much to offer and at the end of the first half, it became 3–0 and 4–0 within two minutes through Alexia Putellas and Esther González.

Superstar Aitana Bonmatí, who was hospitalized with meningitis on Friday, was not ready for the starting eleven but was substituted in for Vicky López in the 81st minute.

Cristina Martin-Prieto fixed the score at 5–0 in stoppage time.

Spain won the World Championship gold in Australia and New Zealand in 2023, then missed a medal in the Olympic Games last summer, but is one of the big favorites in the European Championship.

After the first match at Wankdorf Stadium in Bern, the favorite position did not become less, even though the team reduced the tempo and intensity and mostly played out the second half.

Spain will meet Belgium in its next match, while Portugal will face Italy. Both matches are played on Monday.
