Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has previously angered US President Donald Trump, who called Spain "terrible" for not allowing the US to use Spanish air bases in operations against Iran. Trump also threatened to cut off all trade with Spain.
Sánchez responded to Trump in a televised speech, saying that the government's position on the issue can be summarized in three words: No to war.
"We will not be involved in something that harms the world and goes against our values and interests, just because we are afraid of reprisals," he said, according to AFP.
