For the ninth day in a row, the New York stock exchange's broad index S&P 500 closed on a plus. It is the longest streak since 2004.

The index increased by 1.5 percent. The Dow Jones industrial index and the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index advanced by 1.4 and 1.5 percent, respectively.

Friday's rise can be partly explained by two announcements received positively by the market. Firstly, from the US labor market, where a report on the number of new jobs exceeded expectations, and secondly, from China, which announced that it is considering talks with the US on trade tariffs.

Two large companies released interim reports after the market closed on Thursday evening, Apple and Amazon. The technology manufacturer Apple fell by 3.7 percent during Friday's trading, while the e-commerce giant Amazon traded slightly down, minus 0.1 percent.
