On Thursday, the electricity price will rise to an average of 3.32 kronor per kWh over the course of the day, with individual peaks of almost 6 kronor.
The previous daily record this year in electricity price area 4 (southern Götaland) was just over 3 kronor, set on September 14, according to spot prices on the Nord Pool electricity exchange.
Even higher prices on the continent, particularly in Germany, driven by skyrocketing gas prices, are spreading to Sweden’s southernmost regions. Decreasing winds are also contributing, unlike last weekend’s windy weather, which pushed prices down towards zero.
The recent high prices make October the most expensive month so far this year.
In the rest of Sweden, the increase is considerably smaller. Norrland has daily prices of around 20 öre per kWh.
On top of the spot price, there are taxes, VAT and a network fee of well over one krona per kWh.
