On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, both the Topix and Nikkei 225 climbed 0.5 and 0.9 percent respectively.
In China, Shanghai is hovering around zero, while Shenzhen is down 0.5 percent.
The Hong Kong-based Hang Seng was up 1.3 percent this morning.
