South Korea's ousted president's party has chosen a new presidential candidate for the upcoming election.

The conservative PPP's members have chosen the former Labour Market Minister Kim Moon-Soo. He won the decisive round in the party's internal election with 56.5% of the votes, the party announces.

Yoon Suk-Yeol was impeached on April 4, after having declared a sudden state of emergency with martial law last year.

The South Koreans are going to the polls on June 3 and the liberal opposition candidate Lee Jae-Myung is currently considered the favourite.
