“Unplanned maneuvers” to film and take photographs were behind the accident, according to a report from a South Korean regulatory agency.
"We sincerely apologize to the public," an Air Force spokesman said at a press conference, according to Reuters.
One of the pilots reportedly wanted to document his last flight with his unit. One plane reportedly climbed sharply and tilted to improve the camera angle, while a pilot in another plane filmed and took photos.
The pilots survived the incident without injury, but the plane suffered multi-million-dollar damage.
The Air Force now says it is taking measures to tighten security.
