A South Korean cryptocurrency exchange accidentally transferred bitcoin worth nearly SEK 400 billion to customers on the platform on Friday.

As part of a campaign, the Bithumb platform was supposed to send 2,000 won (equivalent to just over 12 kronor) to around 700 customers, but instead accidentally transferred 2,000 bitcoins to each customer.

“We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the mix-up that occurred in connection with the distribution,” Bithumb said in a statement.

The platform states that it has recovered 99.7 percent of the bitcoins that were transferred incorrectly.
