South Korea to phase out international adoptions, ending them completely in 2029

South Korea will phase out all international adoptions, which will cease completely in 2029. The decision comes after the UN sharply criticized how the adoptions have been handled.

The criticism is that thousands of children have been adopted with false documents and without their parents' consent, and the UN expresses "serious concern" that the country has not done more to help adoptees find their background or receive compensation, NTB reports.
