The first half was a sluggish affair with only one real chance, from South Korea's top star Son Heung-Min.

Despite South Korea having created the most chances up to that point, the Czech Republic scored in the 59th minute through a header by Ladislav Krejci after a long throw-in from Vladimir Coufal.

A few minutes later, the equalizer came from South Korea when In-Beom Hwang feinted past opponents and kicked the ball over the Czech goalkeeper into the net.

Hwang was again involved when South Korea took the lead, this time providing the assist to Hyeon-gyu Oh - who had been substituted on for Son Heung-Min. It was an extra hard blow for the Czech Republic, who had just had a goal disallowed.
