Three South Korean soldiers were injured in the explosion on Monday last week. A week later, South Korea accused North Korea of recently planting landmines just metres from the so-called demarcation line, in the demilitarised zone that separates the countries.
"This constitutes a clear violation of the armistice agreement and, since North Korea bears responsibility, we will take corresponding measures," South Korean Defence Minister Kang Shin-Chul said in a parliamentary hearing.
Formally, there is still a war between the countries, as the fighting in the Korean War ended in an armistice in 1953.
