According to CNN sources, Donald Trump’s dissatisfaction is primarily over Iran’s continued blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and a lack of concessions on the nuclear energy issue.
The Trump administration is now said to consist of different camps advocating different paths forward. Some argue for putting more pressure on Iran - including targeted attacks aimed at weakening the Iranian regime - while others want to continue to pursue a diplomatic solution, according to the sources.
Dismisses Iran's response
On Sunday, Trump dismissed Iran's response to the US peace proposal as "completely unacceptable" and said on Monday that "the ceasefire is at its weakest right now."
Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on Tuesday that there is now no other option than to uphold "the rights of the Iranian people" as described in the peace proposal - which he refers to as the 14-point proposal.
“All other approaches will be completely incomplete; nothing but one failure after another,” he writes on Platform X, continuing:
“The longer they (the US) drag their feet, the more American taxpayers will have to pay for it.”
Threatening to bomb again
Trump has repeatedly threatened to resume bombing, focusing on infrastructure and energy, if diplomacy fails. He reportedly met with his National Security Council on Monday to discuss next steps, including the possibility of resuming military strikes on Iran, according to the news site Axios.
