Representatives of the Danish and US governments are to meet to discuss Greenland on Wednesday, diplomatic sources told CBS News.

US President Donald Trump has repeated earlier threats that the United States wants to take over Greenland, which is a partially self-governing territory of Denmark.

"I would like to make a deal the easy way, but if it doesn't work the easy way, we'll do it the hard way," Trump said on Friday.

The move has sparked strong reactions from Denmark. Denmark has demanded a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has previously said that a US military attack on Greenland would mean the end of NATO.
