Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj is "not ready" to sign an agreement with the USA on Ukrainian assets of rare earth metals.
This is stated by a source for the French news agency AFP, the day after the USA's security adviser Michael Waltz claimed that Ukraine would sign an agreement shortly.
President Donald Trump is making demands for American access to Ukraine's mineral resources, and he has also said that the resources should compensate the USA for the expenses incurred in connection with the Russian invasion war.
The content of a potential contract proposal is not known, and Zelenskyj has previously stated that he does not intend to "sell out" his country.
The President cannot accept the draft contract as it stands now. We are trying to get changes through – and add constructive proposals, says the unnamed source close to Zelenskyj.
