According to The New York Times, citing sources close to the president, it was the Secret Service that advised the president to change his plans.
The change was reportedly a precautionary measure against a potential threat from Iran, the newspaper writes. However, the White House has downplayed the significance of the plane change and says the luxury plane was to be displayed at a British military base. Later, at a press conference, Trump said that when it comes to Iran, he is "number one on the kill list."
The plane that Trump received as a gift from Qatar - a Boeing 747-400 - is said to have been renovated for around 3.8 billion kronor. The gift has raised ethical and safety concerns.
