Trump was indicted in federal court for keeping classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate after his first term. The charges were dropped in 2024, citing Justice Department policy that prevents prosecution of a sitting president.
The agents who are now said to have been forced to leave their jobs participated in a search of the president's home.
The FBIAA, which works to protect the interests of agents, condemned the layoffs and said in a statement that they were illegal and endangered national security.
