During the meetings, the United States, according to the channel's report, proposed three new military bases on the island that would be formally classified as sovereign U.S. territory.
The U.S. and Denmark agreed in January to form a “high-level working group” following tensions over Greenland, but disagreed about its purpose. While Danish representatives said the goal was to find a way forward, the Americans said it was about an American takeover.
The White House has confirmed to the BBC that it is participating in summits with Greenland and Denmark, but declined to comment on details of the negotiations.
The United States currently has a military base in Greenland.
