The tour is expected to inform staff and players on Thursday about the investment fund's withdrawal, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The controversial LIV Tour began in 2022 and has developed into the PGA Tour's main rival. With the help of a huge budget, LIV has managed to attract several top players, including Swedish player Henrik Stenson.

LIV has reportedly cost Saudi financiers more than $5 billion so far. The investment fund is expected to pull out after the 2026 season, CNBC reports.

A committee will now evaluate the tour's options for the future, according to reports.
