According to reports, SAS is considering mixing A330neo and A350 models in the order.
The deal is expected to be completed in the coming weeks, and deliveries are planned to begin at the start of the next decade.
SAS is placing the order to expand its capacity for long-haul flights.
Airbus declined to comment, and SAS has not responded to a request for comment.
The airline has also been in contact with American manufacturer Boeing, but has reportedly chosen Airbus, as SAS already uses Airbus aircraft on long-haul routes.
