US President Donald Trump is urging Ukraine to "speed up" negotiations on a possible peace deal with Russia ahead of new talks expected in Miami this weekend. Kiev, for its part, wants answers on what Washington's security guarantees mean in practice.

What will the United States do if Russia attacks again? What will these security guarantees entail, and how will they work?

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked himself this at a press conference on Thursday.

"I don't think Putin wants to end this war, but he may be forced to if Trump puts more pressure on Russia. With God's blessing, he will succeed," Zelensky added.

On Monday, meetings between the US and Ukraine were held in Berlin, where several European leaders were also present. According to both Ukraine and the US, the talks were productive.

However, Zelensky has said that Ukraine and the United States have "different positions" regarding Russia's demand that Ukraine give up territories, primarily Donbass in the east.

This weekend, American and Russian representatives will meet in Miami for new talks, according to sources in American media.

And as early as Friday, a Ukrainian delegation is expected to arrive in the United States for continued discussions.

"They (Russia and Ukraine) are getting close to something, but I hope Ukraine will hurry up because Russia is in it," Trump said later on Thursday.

Every time they take too long, Russia has time to change.

On Thursday, the Foreign Ministry in Kiev also announced that a high-ranking Ukrainian diplomat is in Beijing for talks with Chinese diplomats.
