Hamas is reported to have agreed to the main points of US President Donald Trump's plan to put an end to the war in Gaza, according to sources for Haaretz.

Among other things, the plan includes that all hostages, dead and alive, should be released immediately. In addition, Israel will release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and gradually withdraw its soldiers from Gaza, the newspaper writes.

According to source information, Qatar has been involved in getting Hamas to agree to the agreement.

Trump's hope is said to be to complete the agreement on Monday when he will meet with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

As part of the plan, Israel will need to give up all plans to annex the Gaza Strip and plans to demolish Gaza and expel the Palestinians living there.

The most important change that the US envoy Steve Witkoff has managed to get Hamas to agree to is to release all hostages held captive in Gaza, without keeping any as a guarantee that Israel will keep its part of the agreement.

Qatar is expected to present a letter signed by Hamas as proof of the group's consent.
