On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the war-damaged pipeline that transports Russian oil through Ukraine to the EU countries Hungary and Slovakia has been repaired.

The two countries have exemptions from the EU's ban on Russian oil imports. However, after a Russian attack in January, the oil has not been delivered since then, which Hungary has used as a reason to halt the €90 billion loan that the other EU heads of state and government have agreed to.

According to a source, the oil flow is expected to resume around 1 p.m. local time in Sweden.

"I think they will start it earlier, within a few hours," the source told AFP.

Slovakia's Minister of Economy Denisa Saková stated on Facebook that Ukrainian state-owned Ukrtransnafta has announced that pressurization and filling of the oil pipeline has begun, and that deliveries to Slovakia are expected to take place on Thursday morning.
