Mohammad Jafar Asadi, deputy head of the Khatam al-Anbiya military headquarters, said at the same time that a renewed war with the U.S. is "inevitable."
"The United States demands our total surrender, and the Iranian nation will never give up," he said, according to the AFP news agency.

Hours later, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that negotiations were continuing. A framework for an agreement could be reached this week, he told ABC News.
