The CIA believes that Ukraine has not targeted a residence used by Russian President Vladimir Putin, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.

Russia has claimed that Ukraine carried out an attack on the residence earlier this week, and on Wednesday published a video clip of a downed drone to support the claim.

Ukraine has categorically denied all allegations of involvement in the incident, saying Russia fabricated the incident to sabotage peace talks.

Now, the CIA's assessment further undermines the Russian accusations.

According to CNN's sources, CIA Director John Ratcliffe has informed President Donald Trump of the assessment.

Putin's accusations came the day after Trump met with Zelenskyy in Florida, and Trump subsequently signaled progress in peace negotiations.
