The trade means he gets to play on the same team as his older brother, Matthew Tkachuk.
Tkachuk Jr. has played for Ottawa for his entire eight-year NHL career. This season, he scored 59 points, including 22 goals and 37 assists.
"This was not an easy decision, but ultimately we did what we believe is best for our club," said Ottawa general manager Steve Staios.
