It was just this week that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth threatened to kick Anthropic out of the U.S. government because the company did not want to give the Defense Department full access to its technology.
Anthropic, best known for the AI tool Claude, does not want to give the U.S. government the right to use the company's technology for surveillance of its own population, nor for deadly violence with "autonomous weapons."
Neither the company nor the Pentagon has commented on the report of renewed talks.
