Moore formed, together with Dave Prater, the duo Sam & Dave, which was successful in the 1960s with songs like "Hold on, I'm coming", "You don’t know like I know" and “When something is wrong with my baby”. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
After the duo split up, Moore started a solo career and collaborated with artists like Bruce Springsteen and Elton John. The big hit "Soul man" also got new life on the charts at the end of the 1970s when it was recorded by The Blues Brothers.
Moore passed away due to complications while recovering from an operation. He was 89 years old.
