An expulsion of at least 20 Somali citizens that was planned to be carried out on Tuesday was stopped last week by Somali authorities, reports DN with reference to sources.

The reason for the stop of deportations is said to have been that the situation was deemed too sensitive, according to the sources.

Minister for Migration Johan Forssell (The Moderate Party) writes in a comment to TT: ”It is not unusual with short-term practical questions that need to be solved out in this type of procedures. Our authorities have an ongoing dialogue with Somali authorities. We assume that the return to Somalia will continue”, and refers otherwise to the police.

In the beginning of October, Ekot revealed that Swedish aid to Somalia has been redirected to projects near the Somali prime minister's office in exchange for Somalia taking back forcibly deported citizens.
