In a post on Telegram on Wednesday evening, the Israeli military stated that “the terrorist organization Hamas committed a flagrant violation of the ceasefire, during which terrorists attacked IDF forces in Rafah.”
In response, the Israeli military struck “against a Hamas terrorist in the southern Gaza Strip.”
In addition to the five dead, another 32 people were injured in the Israeli attack, according to the Civil Defense of the Hamas-controlled area, which added that the attack took place at a tent camp for people forced to flee their homes. It is unclear whether the designated Hamas member was killed.
Earlier on Wednesday, authorities in Gaza stated that over 350 people have been killed since the ceasefire came into effect on October 10.
The Ministry of Health's figures do not distinguish between civilians and combatants, but have long been considered reliable and are regularly reported by the UN and international organizations.
