Solberg was in second place heading into the weekend's final two stages. But after suffering back pain during the 19th stage, he was forced to seek medical attention before the final, decisive stage, according to Finnish broadcaster Yle.
However, Solberg managed to complete the weekend and finished second.
"I slowed down a lot before the jump because of the pain. I knew I would lose the Power Stage. I tried, but I wasn't good enough," Solberg told Rally-TV, according to Aftonbladet.
The World Rally Championship in Finland was won by local driver Sami Pajari, who took his second WRC victory and his first on home soil.
