A powerful storm is taking place on the Sun and could make the northern lights visible on Earth on Tuesday, even further south than usual.
Aftonbladet has received reports of the northern lights from both the Gothenburg archipelago and southern Skåne. Sydsvenskan readers have sent in hundreds of northern lights pictures from different parts of Skåne.
But solar storms not only produce beautiful light displays in the sky; they also risk knocking out satellite communications and making GPS signals less reliable, CNN reports, citing the U.S. Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC).
