"Sofia Jannok shows that kindness can be about both courage, action and consideration - and that one does not exclude the other," the jury writes in its justification, which highlights, among other things, her commitment to Sami rights.
Actor and comedian Olof Wretling is nominated for his "consistent choice to highlight empathy, relationships and human warmth." Author and lecturer Niclas Wennerlund has "shown how kindness can make a real difference" through his initiative "Just Ordinary," in support of people with disabilities.
The winner is chosen by public vote and presented at the Gothenburg Book Fair on September 24–27.
