"When I returned to Italy, I felt as if I had lost the ability to speak Italian. I could only move slowly, and my whole body was shaking, so I feared for my life," Goggia told the television channel Sport1, according to NTB.
The 2018 Olympic downhill gold medalist is still recovering and will not compete in the World Cup opener in Sölden on October 24.
Last season, Goggia won the overall super-G World Cup title and an Olympic bronze medal in downhill in Italy.
