The Social Democrats are calling the Minister of Culture Parisa Liljestrand (The Moderate Party) to the cultural committee after TV4's announcement to leave the terrestrial network, reports TV4 News.

”The government cannot stand passively when TV4 leaves the broadcast network. It risks significantly increasing the costs for public service, just when public service plays a key role in Sweden's total defense and resilience in a deteriorated security situation", writes Lawen Redar, cultural policy spokesperson for Socialdemokraterna, in a comment to TV4 News.

On Thursday, TV4 announced that the channel is leaving the broadcast network to focus on its streaming service. This means that the channel is no longer free for those who watch via antenna.

Furthermore, Redar writes that Liljestrand now must come to the parliament to provide information about how the government will secure the financing and how to guarantee public service's special position in the total defense.
