The Social Democrats report Migration Minister Johan Forssell (M) to the Constitutional Committee, reports Ekot. The Green party demands his resignation. The report and the demand for resignation come after revelations in DN that the government paid out five million kronor to Somalia to increase deportations.

The money has gone to three well-paid positions at the Somali government office, positions that have been given to people in the Somali prime minister's inner circle, according to DN.

The Social Democrats' foreign policy spokesperson Morgan Johansson believes that Sweden is paying "pure bribe money" to an Islamist regime and that the handling is corrupt.

This goes far beyond all boundaries for what a government should be involved with. It's a purely corrupt setup, he says to Ekot.

The Green party's spokesperson Amanda Lind says to the radio that "the trust for the Minister for Migration is completely exhausted" and demands that Forssell resign.

"Very important"

Minister for Migration Johan Forssell (The Moderate Party) defends the arrangement.

It's a very important cooperation so that we can deport dangerous criminals from Sweden, he says to TT.

They do not want to go home and then you have to find cooperation to, for example, be able to establish identity and other things, otherwise they will stay in Sweden.

Forssell emphasizes that it's not about aid money.

We have a cooperation with a UN agency, IOM, which in turn has a cooperation with Somalia, he says.

He claims that it's something the government has been "completely transparent" with.

Somalia is usually considered one of the world's most corrupt countries, and according to DN, relatives are said to have been hand-picked for the jobs.

Isn't that something that worries you at all?

I have confidence in IOM's assessments. If we were to receive information that there would be irregularities, we would of course act, but so far we have not received any such information, says Forssell.

"Returns are increasing"

According to the Minister for Migration, the number of people returning to their home countries has increased by 60 percent since the government took office. The figure includes both people who return voluntarily and those who are deported by force.

The Social Democrats did not lift a finger to ensure that dangerous individuals who committed crimes in Sweden would be deported. Now it's a done deal, says Forssell.

However, he cannot provide any specific figures on how much the returns have increased to Somalia.
