The party's defense policy spokesperson Peter Hultqvist says at a press conference that production capacity in the defense industry must increase.
Too little is happening. There is a high demand for ammunition and weapons at the Ukrainian front, but the Swedish defense must also replenish its stockpiles properly.
Therefore, the Social Democrats want a special defense industry coordinator to be appointed, who will have their own office under them. The coordinator will work long-term with the state's relationship to the defense industry.
This is a way to get the process moving and be able to show more practical results.
The state must take a more active role in this, says Hultqvist.
The party also wants to launch an innovation program for the defense industry, targeting small and medium-sized companies.
It is necessary for Swedish industry to have the opportunity to be innovative in this area, says the party's business policy spokesperson Fredrik Olovsson.
