The Social Democrats want to introduce a profit ban within the education Swedish for immigrants (SFI). It has been the wild west, says S spokesperson Lawen Redar.

The Social Democrats also want to introduce outreach activities so that more people with weak language skills can complete their SFI education.

The reason, according to the Social Democrats, is that a privatized education has led to problems with quality, cancelled courses and cheating. There are also too few requirements today that the education be completed and principals can terminate studies for students who do not make sufficient progress, according to the Social Democrats.

The Swedish language is too important to be controlled by profit-making. Now we must take back control and ensure that SFI actually works, says Lawen Redar, integration policy spokesperson for the party.

One of the larger private operators in the market today is the free school company Academedia.
