S is running on a small school reform based on small classes for young children. It also includes introducing daily reading and writing into the curriculum, so that all schools prioritise reading.

"Reading training is the most important task of primary school and must be strengthened," says Anders Ygeman (S), education policy spokesperson, in a press release.

Another measure is to introduce intensive Swedish in primary school for students with weak language skills.

“Swedish language skills are crucial for a good education,” says Anders Ygeman.
