The Social Democratic Party wants in its shadow budget to give 279 million kronor more to culture than the government.

In total, the Socialdemokraternas culture budget amounts to approximately 9.9 billion kronor, according to the trade union DIK's calculations. Among the investments is a new appropriation of 300 million kronor intended for a new culture guarantee for children and young people.

"It should be easy to take part in and practice culture. Therefore, we want to initiate the introduction of a culture guarantee in school, so that all children can experience culture, regardless of the size of their parents' wallet", says Björn Wiechel, the party's cultural policy spokesperson, in a press release.

The Socialdemokraterna also allocates 100 million more to regional cultural activities than the government, but at the same time cuts the appropriation to Skapande skola by 226 million kronor.

Aside from the culture budget, the Socialdemokraterna wants to increase the appropriations to the study associations by 350 million kronor and increase the appropriation to sports by 100 million kronor.

Correction: In an earlier version, incorrect amounts were stated for the Socialdemokraternas culture budget.
